Engineering Technician

Overview

The Contractor shall perform troubleshooting, tear-down, repair, refurbishment, overhaul, assembly, testing, and installation services for designated equipment at the request of FAALC Product Divisions or Groups. Labor categories required to provide these services may include Electronics Technicians and Engineering Technicians as necessary to meet specific task requirements.

• Examples of tasks to be performed include:
• NAVAID antenna and component repair and overhaul
• Rotary joint and drive motor troubleshooting and repair
• Circuit board testing and repair
• Production and repair of electronic cables and wire harnesses, performing equipment performance analyses, and information collection and reporting
• Performing equipment adjustment, testing, and certification
• Installation of equipment and components, and modifications
• Installation and maintenance of NAS Radomes
• Structural inspection of towers and tower components at heights in excess of 50 feet, not to exceed 750 feet
• Maintenance on the inside and outside of tower structures at heights in excess of 50 feet, not to exceed 750 feet
• Labor includes installation, removal and maintenance of communication antennae, surveillance systems, safety wire, tower guy wire pull-off shackles and tower obstruction lighting systems
• Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs), bending, climbing, working at heights, and operating crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle
• Attend all training classes as required to maintain sufficient knowledge of repair procedures for all systems, including safety related courses
• Support Preventive Maintenance (PMs) and Corrective Maintenance (CMs) on FAA and interagency systems in accordance with policy and procedures
• Perform basic troubleshooting of electronic/electro-mechanical systems, fault isolation, and replacement of failed line replaceable units (LRUs) as needed
• Prepare FAA and interagency assets for shipment to and from field sites and vendor locations
• Enter time into Data Collection and Reporting System (DCRS) daily for timely billing
• Keep Crew Leads informed of assigned tasks and status
• Tower climbing / work at heights
• Performing corrosion control and prevention
• Operate equipment such as boom lifts and motorized forklifts; work from ropes at heights
• Installation of electronic and mechanical systems and components on NAS and Inter-Agency systems
• Position may require travel up to 70% and emergency call-outs for corrective maintenance

• Minimum High School Diploma/GED with completion of formal technical training courses
• Physical fitness evaluation required by government customer, including weight restrictions: minimum 125 lbs and maximum 290 lbs
• NACI Clearance – ability to obtain Public Trust
• Estimated travel: up to 70% monthly
• Valid driver’s license
• Two forms of unexpired identification to meet eligibility requirements (primary and secondary IDs, as examples)

• Rope repelling / on-rope work at heights
• Specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and operations
• Installation of electronic and mechanical systems and components
• Preventive maintenance and replacement of tower, radome and cab glass components
• Experience with operation of boom man lifts and motorized forklifts; ability to work at heights
• Trip report preparation
