Position summary:

The employee will be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned. The employee will be required to work in close relation to his/her peers and all other mid-del employees.

Qualification requirements:

* ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

* high school diploma or general education degree (ged).

* must clear all necessary criminal and vehicular background checks.

* must possess and maintain a current oklahoma license for motor vehicles.

* must be available for unscheduled, emergency calls.

* shall provide a reasonable method of communication during unscheduled, emergency situations.

* currently licensed and in good standing as a journeyman plumber with the following; oklahoma state department of health plumbing division, city of oklahoma city, city of midwest city and city of del city.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

* employee must be reliable, dependable and require minimum supervision. Neatness in appearance, courteous and tactful in dealing with other employees or the general public. Must be very professional and maintain confidential information of sensitive nature.

* regularly must work in confined spaces above or below ground level (man holes, storm sewers, crawl spaces, ceilings, attics spaces and ditches).

* will be required to operate drain cleaning machines using proper operating and safety precautions.

* regularly use voltmeter to test hot water heaters, commercial dish machines, commercial ovens, circulation pumps, garbage disposals, etc., and make repairs as necessary.

* ability to clean, flux and solder copper and brass joints, repair lead traps and trap arms with lead wiping tools, and properly pour lead floor flanges. Familiar with various grades of plastic pipes and fittings (pvc, pex and polyethylene) and the use of proper bonding agents and mechanical connectors. Employees should be able to use manual and free-standing electric pipe threaders, making accurate measurements and cuts with black steel pipe.

* should be skilled in proper time management. Should develop a working knowledge of vendors, purchase orders, work order and call-in work requests.

* must become proficient in the application of the international plumbing code and the international fuel gas code. Employee will be required to receive training from the oklahoma rural water association or the department of environmental quality to acquire a class d water operator license with the department of environmental quality.

* must exhibit good communications skills towards principals, teachers, food service personnel, custodians and students. Must perform as part of an overall maintenance team working for the timely completion of all assigned tasks, and at times working in different departments.

* employee shall be responsible for maintaining general materials stock and the cleanliness of all district owned vehicles assigned to the employee. Employee shall also be responsible for reporting all vehicle problems to fleet maintenance supervisor. Employee shall be responsible for all assigned district owned tools and/or equipment assigned.

* additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.

Language and grammar skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.

Reasoning ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.
