A full-time Postdoctoral Scientist position is available in the Yoon Lab within the Aging and Metabolism Research Program at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF).
Research in the Yoon lab focuses on discovery of new genetic/neurological diseases and their pathogenic mechanisms. We implement an experimental pipeline that leverages the combined power of clinical data, genomics analysis, and studies using Drosophila models and patient-derived stem cell models. We have discovered 5 novel Mendelian mitochondrial diseases including the Harel-Yoon syndrome and the Yoon-Bellen neurodevelopmental syndrome that bear my name (PMID: ;
PMID: ; PMID: ; PMID: ; PMID: ). We already established numerous disease models in human iPS cells. Hence, motivated postdoctoral fellows will have opportunities to explore exciting projects and publish high-impact papers. Candidates with strong interest in neurological and genetic diseases and iPSC models are welcome to apply. Expertise in any of the following areas is highly valued:
- Human iPSC biology/cortical organoid
- Cell biology (cell cycle, mitochondrial dynamics, lysosomal biology)
Ph.D. in a biological science, psychology, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent. Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently with a high degree of skill and also to request help specifically from the lab head when needed. Demonstrated ethical behavior at all times. High level of scientific rigor. Detail-oriented. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
