About the Pioszak Lab

The Pioszak lab studies clinically important cell surface G protein‑coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are involved in diseases including migraine headache, cardiovascular and lymphatic disorders, osteoporosis, diabetes, and obesity. We are seeking a laboratory technician to conduct experiments on GPCR signaling mechanisms and drug design. We use the tools and methods of biochemistry, pharmacology, structural biology, and cell biology in our research.

Much of the work involves in‑vitro experiments with purified proteins or cell culture systems. The lab provides assistance to research staff by conducting simple research experiments, collecting data and samples, keeping records, conducting literature searches, analyzing data, and preparing reports.

Duties
  • Conduct simple research and laboratory analysis, including measuring and weighing compounds and solutions, isolating, identifying, and preparing specimens, and collecting samples and other research data.
  • Assist in simple clinical research projects by collecting data from patients and/or participating in a study or project.
  • Collect various forms of data pertaining to research projects, which could include database information, patient consent forms, and/or hard files.
  • Interpret and analyze data and discuss results with the principal investigator.
  • Prepare reports concerning the progress of the project.
  • Keep detailed logs of all research‑related activities.
  • Conduct literature searches.
  • Perform data analyses, interpret results, summarize findings, and present them to the Principal Investigator.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements

Required

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, or another health‑related field.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months of equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree.

Skills
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and regulations.
  • Proficiency with computers, including data software and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
