Primary Function

Long Wave Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer / Quality Assurance Specialist to support program execution and Quality Management System (QMS) activities within a regulated aerospace and defense environment. This is a hands‑on, senior individual‑contributor role responsible for ensuring compliance with AS9100, customer contracts, and regulatory requirements across internal operations and the external supply chain.

The successful candidate will perform direct quality execution, including Control Account Manager (CAM) duties, internal auditing, inspection activities, and supplier quality support. This role requires on‐site presence, travel, and active engagement across programs, suppliers, and internal teams.

Program Quality & CAM Responsibilities
  • Perform Quality Control Account Manager (CAM) duties for assigned quality work packages, including cost/schedule tracking, variance support, and coordination with program teams.
  • Interpret contract and engineering requirements and translate them into executable quality tasks and deliverables.
  • Support program reviews, risk assessments, and milestone events as an embedded quality contributor.
Internal Audits & QMS Support
  • Plan, conduct, and document internal audits in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
  • Support external audits (certification, customer, or regulatory) as a contributing auditor.
  • Assist with maintaining QMS procedures, records, and objective evidence to support compliance and traceability.
Inspection & Hardware Quality
  • Perform and document receiving, in‑process, and final inspections.
  • Support validation/verification and acceptance testing activities.
  • Ensure product identification, traceability, and configuration control throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support shipping/receiving inspection, WIP control, and lab oversight activities.
Supplier Quality Support
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including Certificates of Conformance (CoCs) and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
  • Support supplier audits, source inspections, and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality issues and corrective actions.
Nonconformance & Corrective Action
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Support nonconformance investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action verification.
Work Conditions
  • On‑site, full‑time role with 9/80 work schedule available
  • Travel required in support of supplier audits, source inspections, and field activities
  • Hands‑on engagement across manufacturing, inspection, and program environments
Required Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance roles within aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001
  • Experience performing internal audits, inspections, and quality documentation activities
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to perform hands‑on quality work and travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial, Mechanical, or a related technical discipline
  • Equivalent experience may be substituted, including extensive hands‑on quality experience and/or recognized professional certifications (e.g., ASQ CQE, CQA, CQM/OE)
  • Experience performing CAM responsibilities in a program environment
  • AS9100 or ISO 9001 Internal or Lead Auditor certification
  • Hardware and/or Supplier Quality experience (FAI, source inspection, supplier audits)
  • Familiarity with DCMA interaction or government inspection processes
  • Experience supporting MRB and corrective action activities
  • Active or previously held security clearance
