American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical/Transplant unit position requiring acute care surgical floor experience and stepdown/PCU experience, with a preference for transplant experience.

Job Details

• Mixed stepdown (SD) and acute care med/surg (MS) unit specializing in post-surgical and pre-surgical transplant patients,

• Patient population includes post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients, as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing inpatient evaluation,

• Close patient monitoring required for infection, rejection, and timely medication delivery,

• Nurses may be assigned to either the MS or SD side depending on staffing availability and acuity,

• 12-hour day shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week),

• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC),

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued,

• Minimum of 1 year of acute care surgical floor RN experience required,

• Stepdown/PCU experience required,

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred,

• OR (operating room) candidates will not be considered,

• ENT and/or transplant experience preferred,

• Preceptor and charge nurse experience preferred,

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include assuming care for an assigned patient group, documenting patient responses to interventions and treatments, administering medications, initiating and monitoring IV infusions and blood products, and educating patients and families on care plans and hospital procedures,

• ICU nurses may be floated to the unit to cover stepdown patients based on acuity and skill set when staffing requires,

• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have a 6-month separation period after completing 26 weeks (one extension) before being eligible for another contract,

• Compliance requirements are strictly enforced - onboarding must begin immediately upon booking, and start dates will not be adjusted for non-compliance
