RN Resident – Registered Nurse (Levels 1-3) – Surgical Transplant – Days and Nights Available

Join OU Health as an RN Resident in our Surgical/Transplant unit, with a trajectory to transfer to the SICU after completing the RN Residency year. This full‑time role offers 7‑12 shifts (7A‑7P and 7P‑7A). Starting in Surgical Transplant enhances your knowledge of the surgical‑specific population while progressing to ICU level care. You will learn from the team and attend the same education provided to SICU nurses.
Less than one year of experience is preferred; if you have more than one year of RN experience, search for positions titled “Experienced RN.”
Essential Responsibilities- Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
- Assist physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe the physiological manifestations of patients, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed.
- Initiate, regulate and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care safely and competently.
- Resolve patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff.
- Inform patient and family of hospital procedures and share care plan during the time of care and at the time of discharge.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Foster a growth mindset through seeking mentorship, remaining open to coaching and feedback, and maintaining professional certification(s)/licensure in order to perpetually develop and uphold the skills required for proficiency within the nursing profession.
- Develop a professional career plan and establish personal, performance goals in alignment with enterprise‑wide metrics, frequently measuring progress with department leadership.
- Foster an inclusive workforce where individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve OU Health’s winning aspiration.
- Delegate tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
0‑3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)).
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
- Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Skill in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
- Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient’s best interest.
- Ability to engage and manage conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.
- Ability to maintain compliance accreditation with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
- Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve the vision and mission of the organization.
- Strong written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity, and ability to be diplomatic.
