Registered Nurse (RN) - Transfer Center Coordinator
The patient logistics center RN serves as a representative for OU Medicine transfers from community hospitals throughout the state and surrounding areas to our three hospitals (OU Medical Center, The Children's Hospital, and OU Medical Center Edmond). This position also serves as a liaison for physician-to-physician communication and patient advocacy.

Department: Patient Logistics Center
Shift: Full‑time – 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (rotating weekends)
Location: OU Medicine, Oklahoma City, OK
General Description: Under general supervision, responsible for triage of patients to the appropriate hospital.
Essential Responsibilities- Responsible for triage of patients to an appropriate hospital through inpatient and emergency department transfers and direct admissions.
- Utilize a computerized system of approved clinical protocols to assess, educate and advise referring facilities on the appropriateness of transfer referral requests, providing safe, effective and appropriate dispositions of care.
- Communicate patient information to physicians and nursing units for acceptance and patient bed assignment.
- Receive requests for patient admission to hospital, patient internal transfers and notifications of discharges for OUMC.
- Assign patient beds as appropriate and maintain a list of pending admits under the supervision/direction of the Bed Management Coordinator.
- Receive a written physician’s order to admit, register or schedule a patient.
- Maintain various reports and logs as appropriate.
- Maintain/up‑date Teletracking on an ongoing basis.
- Delegate tasks to supporting staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Experience: Two (2) years inpatient RN experience; critical care experience preferred.
- Licensure/Certification s/Registrations: Possession of a valid temporary license or permanent license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse prior to entrance on duty. Permanent license must be obtained within 3 months of appointment. BLS required upon hire. Additional certifications may be required based on department assignment.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to maintain good working relationships with physicians and other employees, follow verbal and written instructions, and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Excellent typing skills, good computer skills with familiarity of Teletracking and/or ability to learn Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of commonly used hospital-based computer programs would be helpful.
Ability to relay information accurately and concisely, work closely with multiple disciplines in the healthcare setting, and successfully handle multiple tasks.
