General Description:
An OU Health Registered Nurse (RN) Ambulatory I works under general supervision, providing the highest quality of care in an ambulatory setting to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The nurse models the OU Health Way, reflecting OU Health’s core values:

- Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned patient, group of patients, or patients to be seen by service/clinic.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders.
- Assists physicians in examination of patients and minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data, observes manifestations, and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medication as prescribed.
- Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivers patient care safely and competently.
- Resolves patient complaints timely in accordance with policy and collaborative support staff.
- Informs patient and family of clinic/unit procedures, shares care plan during care and at discharge.
- Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Fosters a growth mindset through mentorship, open coaching, and maintaining professional certification(s)/licensure.
- Develops a professional career plan, establishes personal performance goals aligned with enterprise-wide metrics, measures progress with department leadership.
- Fosters an inclusive workforce where individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve OU Health’s winning aspiration.
- Delegates tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
0-3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse. - Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a multistate compact Registered Nurse).
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
- Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. - Experience:
3+ years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse. - Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a multistate compact Registered Nurse). Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
- Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient’s best interest.
- Ability to engage and manage conflicts and disagreements constructively.
- Ability to maintain compliance accreditation with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.

- Strong written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity, and diplomacy.
