Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medicine Step Down position requiring at least 1 year of Med-Surg or Step Down experience and a valid OK or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital Medicine Step Down unit

• Works with a diverse adult patient population with varied health conditions from simple to complex

• Expected to work 36 hours per week with 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend

• Rotates coverage for holidays

• 13-week contract with the potential to renew

• Charge experience is preferred

• Provides direct nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

• Responsible for medication administration, IV infusions, and monitoring physiological data

• Assists physicians with patient examinations and minor procedures

• Expected to document patient responses and update care plans as needed

• Delegates appropriate tasks to support staff

• Interacts with patients and families to share care plans and discharge information

• Candidate must be able to effectively respond to cultural and language needs of patients and families

Requirements

• Active RN license from OK or a valid compact (eNLC) RN license

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

• Minimum of 1 year of recent Med-Surg or Step Down RN experience

• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred

• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
