RN Registered Nurse - High Risk Antepartum/ Postpartum - PRN
OU Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the High Risk Antepartum/Postpartum unit. This PRN opportunity requires delivering high-quality care in a hospital setting, upholding OU Health’s core values of Patients First, Relentless Excellence, Integrity, Inclusion, Learning, and Teamwork.
Responsibilities- Aligns behaviors with OU Health values and maintains nursing professional practice standards.
- Assumes responsibility for an assigned patient or group of patients.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders.
- Assists physicians in examinations and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data, observes patient conditions, and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medications as prescribed.
- Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivers patient care safely and competently.
- Resolves patient complaints in a timely manner in accordance with policy and in collaboration with support staff.
- Informs patients and families of hospital procedures and shares care plans during care and at discharge.
- Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Fosters a growth mindset through seeking mentorship, feedback, and maintaining professional certification(s)/licensure.
- Develops a professional career plan and establishes personal, performance goals aligned with enterprise metrics, with progress reviewed with department leadership.
- Fosters an inclusive workforce where individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve OU Health’s vision.
- Delegates tasks to clinical support staff as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Experience: 1+ years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse.
License/Certification/Registration:
- Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)).
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
- Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating for the patient’s best interests.
- Ability to engage and manage conflicts constructively.
- Ability to maintain compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with candor, openness, integrity, and diplomacy.
