Position Title: LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Urology Surgery - Stephenson Cancer Center Department: SCC Urology

Job Description:

Under general supervision,provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility.

• Assists with the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.
• Provide scare according to an established nursing plan.
• Observes changes inpatient’scondition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.
• Provides routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement,anddiscontinuingoforal-gastric tube. Initiates and monitors oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol.
• Suctions and cleans tracheotomy sites.
• May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal,and topical medications.
• Prepares patients for routine physical examinations andassistthe physician during examinations.
• An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination.

• No experience required.

• Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Associationrequiredupon hire.
• Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR a current multistate LPN License (eNLC) required.

• Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluatenursingneeds of assigned patients.
• Must be knowledgeable aboutoperatingroom techniquesifapplying for a surgery position.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
