Nurse Educator - Adult Perioperative

Preference will be given to previous experience in the OR as a perioperative circulator.

Under general supervision, performs professional work in all phases of a comprehensive staff development and training program for an assigned unit. Essential

Responsibilities
  • Align behaviors with OU Health values and maintain nursing professional practice standards.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate and document staff development and inservice.
  • Develop criteria to evaluate needs of the staff and measure effectiveness of training programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate competency development, verification and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate nursing orientation program.
  • Coordinate and facilitate quality improvement activities and assess implementation of age and culturally appropriate care programs.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate Preceptor Program. Coordinate CPR training that meets American Heart Association requirements and is in compliance with TJC standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required;
    Master’s in Nursing preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse in the specified area of teaching.
Licenses / Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse).
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
  • Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
  • Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient’s best interest.
  • Ability to engage and manage conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.
  • Ability to maintain compliance accreditation with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and maximized to achieve the vision and mission of the organization.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity, and the ability to be diplomatic.
  • Must have good presentation and communication and written skills.
  • Ability to be creative and innovative in program development.
  • Must be able to work independently and research material when developing education sessions.
  • Must be able to read and critique research findings for application practice.
  • Must have computer skills.
