Overview

The Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) private operating foundation based in Oklahoma City, dedicated to improving the health and well-being of Oklahomans. The organization's history is founded in research, and for many years, the nonprofit focused on basic medical research and sleep studies. In 2012, the Lynn Institute transitioned to a new mission and began focusing on community health research.

Through this comprehensive research, the institute identified at-risk populations, analyzed community needs, and developed actionable insights to address gaps in access to resources.

Today, the Lynn Institutefocuses on sustainable community change through collaboration, coordination, and a shared vision. As a backbone organization, the Lynn Institute plays a central role in aligning efforts among nonprofits, public agencies, and community partners to address some of the most pressing health and wellness challenges facing underserved populations in Oklahoma.

We serve as a trusted convener—bringing together organizations across sectors to foster collective impact. Through data-driven strategies, shared measurement systems, and a commitment to equity and inclusion, we help partners work toward common goals while honoring each organization's unique strengths.

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The CEO/President leads the Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research and is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, financial management, community partnerships, and mission advancement of the organization. This role works closely with the Board of Directors and staff to ensure the Institute remains financially stable, mission-focused, and responsive to community needs.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Governance
  • Collaborate with the Board to shape strategic priorities and long-term direction.
  • Provide timely updates, reports, and materials that support Board decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to bylaws, governance policies, and all regulatory requirements.
  • Work within the Carver Governance Model and support related Board practices.
  • Protect the assets, reputation, and integrity of the Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research at all times.
  • Assist and guide board committees as needed.
Organizational Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and support a productive, healthy work environment.
  • Supervise leadership staff and ensure clear goals, expectations, and accountability.
  • Oversee program planning, evaluation, and alignment with the mission and community priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit, state, and federal standards.
  • Promote an organizational culture that values collaboration, professionalism, and community impact.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget in partnership with the Board Treasurer and finance staff.
  • Monitor financial performance and revenue across all program areas.
  • Oversee financial reporting, audits, internal controls, and fiscal accountability.
  • Ensure grant requirements, restrictions, and compliance standards are met.
  • Lead fundraising strategies that sustain and expand the Institute’s work.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and funding partners.
  • Support grant writing, reporting, prospect development, and funder stewardship.
  • Represent the Institute at events and in the community to broaden visibility and support.
Community & External Relations
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Institute.
  • Build partnerships with healthcare organizations, community groups, universities, elected officials, volunteers, and local leaders.
  • Represent the Institute in public forums, media opportunities, and community events.
  • Maintain active involvement in community initiatives, coalitions, and partnerships.
  • Demonstrate experience in community engagement and building relationships that support the mission.
Program Oversight
  • Ensure programs are mission-driven and responsive to community health needs.
  • Support staff in planning, assessing, and improving program effectiveness.
  • Oversee data collection, outcome measurement, and reporting for accountability.
  • Ensure programs meet funder expectations and align with Institute goals.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit budgeting and the development and management of an operating budget.
  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor relations, and community support.
