Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising production employees and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards. The role involves interviewing, hiring, and training staff; planning, assigning, and improving work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise up to 120 employees and be accountable for activities in their area of responsibility.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws.
  • Ensure that established policies, rules, regulations, and procedures are followed.
  • Coach, direct, monitor, and regularly evaluate employee performance.
  • Conduct coaching or disciplinary actions with employees in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Ensure the safety of employees, processes, equipment, and housekeeping of the area.
  • Maintain quality standards for all processes, equipment, and employees.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of TS16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Manage and approve hourly employee attendance records for payroll.
  • Approve requests for time‑off for responsible employees.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
  • Report and follow up on all process and equipment problems in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot problems and facilitate problem‑solving teams.
  • Organize work for smooth operations, including reviewing staff levels and equipment requirements based on production needs and line efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and productivity using lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Coordinate and maintain visual controls used within production areas.
  • Verify correct identification, handling, and storage of products and materials.
  • Attend leadership development and training as necessary.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum three years’ experience in leadership or supervision in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Supervisory experience, higher education/training, and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups, and communicate effectively with oral and written communication including telephone conversations.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in operating a PC, using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications. Ability to draft and format memos, emails, spreadsheets, and graphs, and navigate and perform duties in enterprise ERP and time‑keeping software systems.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, draw and interpret bar graphs, and interpret company and departmental financial data.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
