What You’ll Be Doing:

Leadership, Culture & Ownership
  • Embraces Guernsey’s ESOP culture by acting like an owner—making decisions that balance growth, risk, people, and long-term firm success.
  • Owns both performance and culture, setting clear expectations and holding self and others accountable to business, client, and people goals.
  • Leads with emotional intelligence and respect, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing environment across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Communicates with clarity and purpose, aligning teams around strategy, priorities, and shared responsibility for outcomes.
  • Models adaptability, sound judgment, and decisiveness—particularly in complex, fast-moving, or ambiguous situations.
Marketing & Client Relations
  • Develops growth strategies in new and emerging markets.
  • Assists with strategic pursuits, including interview preparation and win strategies.
  • Evaluates and approves go/no-go decisions for project opportunities.
  • Maintains high-level client relationships and performs regular project debriefs and client check-ins.
Staff Development
  • Manages multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success from conception through execution, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Coaches and develops staff, providing timely feedback and addressing issues directly to support long-term success and foster professional growth.
Public & Government Relations
  • Engages with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to advocate for and promote our transportation initiatives.
  • Represents Guernsey in professional organizations.
  • Builds and maintains relationships at the political level necessary to support key pursuits.
  • Develops a business plan and financial metrics for the region.
  • Oversees contract terms, scopes, and fees to mitigate risk.
  • Ensures teams are performing at a high level and have accountability to the goals established in the business plan.
  • Fosters a culture of safety, compliance, and quality control across all transportation initiatives.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and PE license required.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
  • At least 4 years of experience supervising or mentoring technical staff.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, client relations, and team development.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and client service skills.
  • Deep knowledge of regulations, standards, and quality management practices.
  • Valid driver’s license, willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel, as needed.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Sit/stand at a desk or computer
  • Walk, stoop, stand and move around job sites
  • Travel and occasional site visits requiring stooping, standing, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequent communication via phone, video, or in-person meetings
  • Ability to focus on digital and paper-based information for extended periods
  • Some project-based travel may be required
