Description

The Criminal/Traffic Division handles over 24,000 felony, misdemeanor, and traffic cases annually. We provide accurate, timely assistance to defendants, attorneys, law enforcement, and the public, ensuring compliance with statutes. This position ensures accurate case recording, fee collection, and efficient access to court records.

The Counter Clerk acts as the frontline representative for criminal court records and traffic matters. This individual receives and processes filings, sets up payment arrangements, and resolves inquiries from the public, attorneys, law enforcement, and other stakeholders. Individuals in this role are responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and courteous service in accordance with state statutes, court rules, and internal policies. All positions are required to cross-train in different department and rotate work assignments stations when necessary.

Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience; preferably in a high volume, transactional environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and willingness to learn and become proficient in court data systems.
  • Oklahoma Statues governing court costs, assessments, fines, and penalties.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend related Oklahoma statutes, court rules, and administrative directives.
  • Familiarity with criminal proceedings terminology, docketing procedures, and status flags.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in highly regulated environment with low error margin.
  • Handle sensitive personal and financial data in compliance with state statute and privacy laws.
  • Capacity to multitask in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and maintain calm under pressure.
Education Required
  • Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience; preferably in a high volume, transactional environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required, associate degree in criminal justice, public administration, or related field preferred.
