Software Engineer – Awacs And Aew&C Information Assurance – Level 5

• Information Assurance/Cyber tasks for the AWACS 40/45 mission computing software systems engineering organization for international/US and IR&D projects. Conceptualize, design, and build secure information technology systems. Identify, analyze, and mitigate threats to the mission computing systems and/or networks. This includes coordination with outside vendors, customers and other AWACS organizations. Work in concert with an engineering team to develop software requirements, design, build and integrate solutions which support a complex set of requirements including Information Assurance.
• Lead systems security requirement definition, while drawing upon Systems Engineering as necessary, lead security architecture definition and product definition; execute security analyses, trade studies and engineering security risk assessments; implement and integrate the security design; and support software security testing, including verification and validation.
• Identify, evaluate and document computing system requirements as well as estimating, planning and scheduling overall tasks. Design, build and test delivery systems and components. Evaluate product usability, affordability, functionality, security and performance to assess suitability and survivability for integration into delivery system environments. Provide technical support and consultation for the implementation and usage of delivery systems. Lead others to identify, evaluate and document complex computing system requirements.
  
  Lead and independently contribute activities to architect, design, build and test delivery systems/components.
• Ensure information assurance controls are identified and implemented and collect the certification evidence required by the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) and Risk Management Framework (RMF). Apply both leadership and technical skills in an Integrated Product Team environment with other engineers, customers and subcontractors. Participate in working groups that coordinate systems security engineering activities.

Typical Education/

Experience:

• Bachelor s degree and 14 or more years  experience, or Master s with 12 or more years  experience or PhD with 9 or more years  experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
• This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) Secret Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
• This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
• Required Skills/
  
  Experience:
  
  Software development experience using C++, Java and some scripting languages
• Security certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM)

• Experience on Linux and Windows Operating Systems
• Experience with DOORS
• Experience in network device hardening, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing
• Experience with Linux/Windows system administration and securing network devices
• Experience in software development and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) integration
• Experience with DoD Instruction 8500.2, DoD Instruction 8510.01, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800 Series Special Publications a plus.

Travel expected to be 25% in the first 6 months to include traveling from Oklahoma City, OK to Seattle, WA for knowledge transfer. Travel is expected to reduce after 6 months.
