IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN) at Defense Information Systems Agency

SUMMARY

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. The role is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure and is located in the DISA - HC/Operations Support Office.

• Maintains and improves Change and Configuration management processes, ensuring an accurate Configuration Management Database to support informed business decisions and effective IT service delivery.
• Offers ITIL expertise to advise team leads and section chiefs on process improvement, strategic planning, and policy development, optimizing resource utilization.
• Executes the adoption and integration of the DISA Enterprise Service Management Framework and local ITSM change/configuration processes, driving continuous improvement through evaluation, monitoring, and standardized documentation.
• Coordinates with internal and external entities to manage service disruptions, changes, and risks, while analyzing performance, presenting findings to leadership, and establishing baselines for continuous improvement of IT service delivery.
• Contributes to shaping and implementing a comprehensive ITSM approach aligned with mission and business priorities, leveraging industry best practices and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver effective IT solutions.

• This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• In accordance with DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.

• Attention to Detail: experience reviewing own IT-related work or data and having been requested by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
• Customer Service: experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current IT needs of customers, and developing or identifying IT products and services tailored to meet customer needs.
• Oral Communication: briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Problem Solving: identifying alternatives to address complex informational issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources to provide a number of potential solutions.

• To qualify at the GG‑12 level, provide at least one year of experience demonstrating the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience may include paid, unpaid, volunteer work, or military service equivalent to work at the next lower grade level.
• Applying change management principles to ensure data integrity, procedural compliance, and adherence to ITIL standards, while providing user guidance and training on related processes and tools.
• Analyzing existing workflows to identify problems, recommend solutions, and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Developing and tracking key metrics to measure process effectiveness, including data collection, trend analysis, and reporting.
