Position Overview

Oklahoma Childrens Hospital Behavioral Health Center, part of OU Health, is seeking a doctoral-level Psychologist with expertise in adolescent acute behavioral health to join its growing multidisciplinary team. This position focuses on the assessment and treatment of adolescents with serious mental illness and complex behavioral concerns within acute psychiatric services, including inpatient units, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide pediatric psychology and behavioral health services for adolescents with acute psychiatric needs

  • Conduct psychological, diagnostic, risk, and lethality assessments

  • Deliver crisis-focused individual and family interventions

  • Facilitate evidence-based skills groups (e.g., DBT, CBT) across inpatient, PHP, and IOP settings

  • Provide ongoing therapy services for patients and families

  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and treatment planning

  • Offer consultation and collaboration to multidisciplinary care teams

  • Develop and disseminate psycho educational resources for patients and families

  • Complete clinical documentation within 48 hours of services rendered

  • Maintain required continuing education credits per Oklahoma licensure standards

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and leadership to ensure excellence in behavioral health services

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and program development

  • Support development, coordination, and implementation of psychological services

  • Develop partnerships with community mental health organizations

  • Ensure compliance with OU Health standards and Medicaid requirements

  • Lead team huddles and meetings to enhance patient care and program flow

Academic & Teaching Responsibilities
  • Eligible for faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics and/or Psychiatry

  • Supervise and mentor psychology practicum students, interns, and residents

  • Participate in trainee evaluations and educational programming

  • Teach and provide research supervision to medical residents and students

  • Collaborate on extramural funding opportunities

  • Serve as Principal Investigator on IRB-approved research projects

  • Present and publish research at local and national levels

Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology

  • Completion of an APA/CPA-accredited internship

  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Health Service Psychologist in Oklahoma

  • Postdoctoral training in clinical child, pediatric, or acute care psychology preferred

  • Demonstrated expertise in acute psychiatric care

  • Proficiency in psychological assessment, scoring, report writing, and feedback

  • Experience with evidence-based treatments (DBT, CBT)

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults

  • Background in integrated care settings

  • Interest or experience in research, training, or program development

  • Commitment to OU Healths missions of clinical care, education, and research
