Overview

Radiographer PRN - Norman Pediatric Orthopedics Clinic – OU Health

Under general supervision, performs advanced level professional work in exposing and processing radiographic images and fluoroscopy examinations. Circulates to other diagnostic radiology areas as assigned by the supervisor (e.g., surgery, trauma, and pediatrics). Recognized as an expert in the field or participates in a training program to enhance knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities
  • Operates standard and portable radiology equipment to perform radiographic examinations and fluoroscopy studies, including intravenous pyelography, cystography, gastro-intestinal series and body section radiography
  • Assists physicians and performs specialized imaging procedures
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems regarding equipment and/or film output
  • Acts as a resource and preceptor for other Radiographers and/or students
  • May participate in training programs to enhance radiology skills and become proficient in producing images in Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or Special Procedures
  • Maintains records, inventory, and equipment for area of primary responsibility

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited educational program with emphasis in a primary cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty as defined by the ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI. Candidates within 6 weeks of graduation may be considered for employment.
  • Experience: N/A
  • License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s): BLS must be current upon hire. Must meet applicant eligibility requirements and published standards for ARDMS, ARRT, or CCI in the cardiovascular or radiologic technology specialty required by the hiring department. Must be achieved within 12 months of hire date.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of diagnostic radiography techniques and operation/maintenance of radiographic equipment. Ability to prioritize assignments, assess and care for patients of varying ages, good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate technical information clearly, and computer skills.
