** Job Description
** The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) is seeking a full-time Fire Equipment Specialist in the Forestry Division. This position (PIN #)  is in state government, located in Goldsby, OK. The State of Oklahoma offers a comprehensive , including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.

The hourly pay for this position is up to $22.07 based on education and experience.

Description:

** This position will be assigned responsibilities of supporting the Community Fire Assistance Program (CFAP). Primarily the Firefighter Property Program (FFP) and Federal Excess Property Program (FEPP).
** Typical Functions:
*** Reviews lists, reports, and computer-generated information on available property donated from federal and state entities and institutions; determines the potential use and desirability of property; may drive a tractor trailer (18-wheeler) truck or other type of transport vehicle to a specific location(s); physically inspects and tests property and makes procurement recommendations.
* Completes procurement documents, verify availability, annotates list identifying special requests and class of property, contacts agency for formal property request documentation.
* Physically inspects and operates all equipment being picked up before accepting and loading property.
* Loads equipment obtained on transport vehicle and transports equipment back to distribution yard or to the property recipient.
* Provides technical assistance and information to donor recipients on procurement procedures, type and quantities of property, utilization, demand, and modification of donated property.
* Reviews and evaluates eligible recipients’ needs and makes recommendations regarding donated property.
* Develops and maintains effective and cooperative relations with government officials and recipients.
* Maintains a current knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations regarding donated property programs. Counsels with and advises eligible institutions and agencies of federal and state regulations covering the acquisitions and use of donated property.
* Prepares listings of property, including description, quantity, government acquisition cost, nomenclature, size and serial number for placement of equipment and inventory purposes.

* Education and Experience:

** Requirements consist of a high school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience as a Fire Equipment Specialist or closely related position and one year of experience operating heavy equipment and trucks to load/unload/haul cargo; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
** Required at this level include knowledge of basic fire management; of wildland fire suppression and support equipment; of wildfire suppression principles and techniques; of the operation and maintenance of wildland fire equipment; and of the evaluation and utility of firefighting equipment used by the Oklahoma Fire Service. Ability is required to trouble-shoot equipment issues and malfunctions throughout the entire process of screening, acquirement, and delivery;
