Entry Level and Associate Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 1 and Level2)
The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Entry Level and Associate Structural Analysis Engineer (Level 1 and Level
2) to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
.
A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the Bombers (B-1 and/or B-52) programs.
Position Responsibilities:(Level
1)
- Performs limited structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Participates in various test activities substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
- Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements
- Works under close supervision.
(Level
2)
- Performs basic structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools, to support drawing release and limited support to the Manufacturing Review Board process.
- Develops complex structural math models and performs analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity.
- Performs basic structural analysis to support response to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation and regulatory agency coordination.
- Performs structural analysis to support trade studies and configuration development.
- Creates strength check notes to document analysis. Provides inputs to formal documentation, to show compliance with Boeing, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and supports in-house software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
- Assists in the research and preparation of data, to support definition of structural design requirements.
- Works under general supervision.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) (Level1)
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- Exposure to Finite Element Models (FEM) in academic and classwork
- Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills
- 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance
- Able to independently construct, execute, review, and manage structural finite element models
- 1 or more years of experience in structural analysis
- Experience with Hypermesh, Abaqus CAE, and/or Nastran
- Experience validating or verifying finite element model results
- Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques)
- Experience with Aircraft Primary Structures on Boeing Commercial Derivatives – Commercial and/or Military applications (737, 747, 757, 767 & 777)
