What You’ll Be Doing:
- Prepare detailed drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD, Civil 3D (or similar platforms)
- Create plan and profile sheets, cross sections, grading, utility layouts, and alignments for civil transportation projects
- Support engineering staff in the preparation of roadway, site, drainage, and utility design plans
- Review, interpret, and apply civil design standards and codes to drafting work
- Assist in quantity takeoffs and support development of cost estimates and specifications
- Coordinate and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure accuracy and consistency across plan sets
- Organize and maintain drawing files in accordance with project and company standards
- Provide mentorship and quality review for junior CAD technicians and drafters
What You Bring to the Team:
- 10+ years of experience as a CAD Technician or Designer in civil engineering
- High proficiency in AutoCAD, including surfaces, alignments, corridors, grading, and pipe networks
- Strong understanding of civil and transportation engineering principles and plan preparation practices
- Experience producing plan sets for roadway, drainage, utility, and site development projects
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and within a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, or related field
- Experience with Micro Station and Open Roads Designer a plus
- Familiarity with ODOT, municipal, or federal design standards
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and with external clients or agencies
Essential Physical Functions:
- Sit/stand at a desk or computer
- Walk, stoop, stand and move around job sites
- Travel and occasional site visits requiring stooping, standing, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent communication via phone, video, or in-person meetings
- Ability to focus on digital and paper-based information for extended periods
- Some project-based travel may be required
