The City of Oklahoma City – Utilities Department is one of the largest City departments with approximately 828 employees managing over 76,000 acres of reservoir and associated land, two water treatment plants providing 38 billion gallons of drinking water to the region using 15 drinking water booster stations, and nine elevated and ground drinking water storage tanks to provide water storage and water pressure.
The city is looking for a new Assistant Water Quality Superintendent to manage the preventative, proactive and corrective maintenance activities, equipment replacement programs and capital improvement projects at the drinking water treatment plants, distribution pump stations, water booster station, lakes and canals. Under the Water Quality Superintendent, this position will supervise a team of 75 employees. A take-home city vehicle will be provided due to the daily travel to all the facilities under the purview of this position.
Candidates should preferably have an Associate Degree in a related field, with a minimum of four years' progressively responsible experience in water treatment maintenance and workforce management, as well as at least four years' experience in a supervisory role and managing a large, unionized workforce. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software is also preferred. Candidates shall possess a valid Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Class A Water Works Operator License or the ability to obtain the license within 18 months of hire.
