Mechanical Integrity Specialist – Targa Resources
The role of the Mechanical Integrity Specialist (MIS) is responsible for managing, planning, budgeting, scheduling, forecasting, cost management, optimization, project scoping, and QA/QC of fixed equipment inspections for assigned facilities. The MIS shall also provide technical guidance, support, and program development as MI/API Subject Matter Expert (SME) in areas of Mechanical Integrity (MI) to better ensure overall facility safety, compliance, and equipment reliability.
This includes supporting the development, improvement, and interpretation of the corporate MI program and its initiatives, practices, policies, and procedures. The MIS will serve as an SME in the fixed and rotating equipment inspection and maintenance practices, their application and management within Targa. The MIS will also participate in and support internal/external MI‑related audits, risk surveys, and PHAs. The MIS shall be responsible for providing support and/or coordination in matters of MI‑related codes and regulations, equipment defects, and repairs.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist Operations with management of their MI program, including monitoring, inspection scheduling, inspection scopes of work (SOW), project bids, asset health, inspection QA/QC, and IDMS management.
- Manage inspections on piping circuits or vessels as needed and recommend and approve repairs.
- Assist in developing and implementing inspection programs to maximize the on‑stream time of major equipment.
- Guide operations, Technical Services, and Process Engineering in consideration of changes that will enhance Mechanical Integrity and reliability.
- Participate and support internal/external MI‑related audits, risk surveys, and PHAs.
- Assist with root‑cause failure analysis studies to determine failure modes.
- Assist with degradation mechanism identification and analysis as part of routine inspection recommendations and developing RBI programs.
- Maintain and communicate current code, regulatory requirements, and RAGEGEP pertaining to MI.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Properly use and complete company job‑related forms and paperwork.
- Participate in the development and execution of Mechanical Integrity and Reliability programs.
- Communicate and deal with vendors and other parties in a manner that benefits the professional reputation of the company.
- Interpret and evaluate inspection results.
- Support, develop, and improve the mechanical integrity inspection program.
- Participate in the development of corporate MI policies, guidelines, procedures, and training.
- Advocate and influence MI cultural development.
- Lead and coach others to enhance the performance effectiveness of day‑to‑day inspection activities in a multifunctional organization.
- Gather equipment data and information in the field.
- Travel to areas within the region where work is active.
- Review internal and external visual inspections, including non‑destructive testing; record data and information to assure equipment histories are current; analyze inspection findings and develop recommendations; and prepare API 510 and 570 inspection reports for engineering and operations review.
- Perform/review basic calculations using corrosion data to determine inspection schedules and equipment/piping remaining life.

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record satisfactory to the company.
- Project management experience.
- Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
- Experience with Integrity Data Management Systems (IDMS).
- Technical competency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
