Position Summary
Create a flexible program and a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; and establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Essential Duties- Teach a foreign language to pupils in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Oklahoma City’s Board of Education and any other appropriate learning activities.
- Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil with the identified objectives.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Utilize grading patterns that are fairly administered and based on identified criteria.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom; treat pupils with respect and dignity.
- Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil’s progress and interpret the school program.
- Interact with pupils, staff, and parents in a positive and professional manner.
- Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Establish rapport with pupils and provide a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate conducive to learning.
- Actively participate in full implementation of the OKCPS model for School Improvement.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the district and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities during the assigned working day.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure continuity of services; if necessary an alternative work site may be employed in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires closing schools or office buildings. Eligibility for an alternative work site will be determined by the superintendent of schools and guidelines will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor based on their role and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Oklahoma Teaching Certification in secondary education for at least one of the following subjects, or an Alternative Teaching Certification approved by the Oklahoma State Department of

- FRENCH – French (Highly Qualified)
- GERMAN – German (Highly Qualified)
- ITALIAN – Italian (Highly Qualified)
- JAPANESE – Japanese (Highly Qualified)
- LATIN – Latin (Highly Qualified)
- NATIVE AMERICAN LANGUAGE – Native American Language (Highly Qualified)
- RUSSIAN – Russian (Highly Qualified)
- SPANISH – Spanish (Highly Qualified)
- AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE – American Sign Language or any other qualified certificate (Highly Qualified)
- GREEK – Greek (Highly Qualified)
- TURKISH – Turkish (Highly Qualified)
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Demonstrate cooperation and collaboration with others, self‑discipline, initiative, and adherence to state and district guidelines.
- Have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on a computer.
- Have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret, and transcribe written material.
