An adjunct faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the division to which the adjunct faculty member belongs as well as the College as a whole.
Responsibilities- Instruct courses in Construction Management, including Construction Fundamentals, Blueprint Reading, Estimating, and Building Systems.
- Support student learning and assess student learning outcomes for the program and/or department.
- Respond in a timely fashion to informational requests from program, division, and College administrators.
- Attend required meetings and complete safety training and emergency drills.
- Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline.
- Maintain license or professional certification specific to program requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related construction industry field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the commercial construction industry.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Construction Manager, Construction Project Manager, Project Engineer, Foreman, or related role.
- OSHA 30‑Hour certification.
- Moodle training required for adjunct professors who teach online.
- Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills (oral and written).
- Self‑starter with initiative; ability to work independently and coordinate with colleagues.
- Basic computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.
- Organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to interact effectively with students individually and in groups.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Requires occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds, frequent standing, operating a computer and equipment, and working in an indoor classroom or office setting.
Preferred QualificationsConstruction Management bachelor’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a construction related field (e.g., Civil Engineering).
Work HoursDay, evening, and/or weekend as required by section assignment. Courses may be taught on‑campus, at local high schools, and online.
