About El Camino Elementary
In the school year, Santa Fe South proudly continues the growth of El Camino Elementary, our sixth elementary campus. After opening its doors in its inaugural year with Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade, El Camino is now expanding to include 2nd grade and adding one additional teaching position at each existing grade level. The school will continue to grow annually, adding one grade per year until it reaches 5th grade.
Teacher Experience at El Camino
While teaching at El Camino shares many similarities with teaching across Santa Fe South Charter Schools, there is something uniquely powerful about being part of a founding and growth-phase team. Teachers at El Camino are not only educators- they are builders and leaders, helping to strengthen and expand a young school as it takes shape.
This role is ideal for educators with strong instructional skill, flexibility, and a problem-solving mindset. Teachers must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, contributing to evolving systems, and collaborating closely with colleagues to establish and refine school wide practices. In return, founding teachers have a rare opportunity to help shape school culture, instructional norms, and traditions- leaving a lasting legacy for students and families for years to come.
At Santa Fe South, we believe the foundation for both student success and school success is built in the early years. Pre-K teachers at El Camino play a critical role in launching students' academic journeys by fostering strong foundations in early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development.
Our goal is for students to leave Pre-K with the skills, confidence, and joy of learning they need to thrive in Kindergarten and beyond. Achieving this vision requires a commitment to high-quality instruction and the creation of a warm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.
To support this work, Pre-K teachers collaborate closely with Paraprofessionals, sharing classroom responsibilities to provide individualized support and targeted instruction that accelerates student growth during these formative years.
