Assistant Professor of Production Management
Oklahoma City University invites applications for a 12‑month, tenure‑track (or non‑tenure‑track) faculty position beginning August 2026. The opening date is December 8 2025 at 09:00 CST.
Position SummaryThe successful candidate will join our professional artistic community with teaching and mentoring duties in production management, stage management, and/or other potential areas within the candidate’s expertise.
Responsibilities include management and coordination of productions and special events in the School of Theatre and the Bass School of Music. An MFA is required for a tenure‑track appointment; candidates with a bachelor’s degree and relevant professional experience may be considered for a non‑tenure‑track role.

- A mentorship role with student stage managers for on‑campus and selected off‑campus professional partnership productions.
- Active participation in School of Theatre recruitment and retention activities, including travel to regional and national interview events.
- Service on school and university committees.
- Teaching 1–2 classes per semester in Production Management, Stage Management, and/or other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Collaboration on production budget development.
- Draft contracts for selected guest artists and designers.
- Create and manage production calendars in coordination with area heads.
- Oversee and coordinate scheduling of theatrical spaces and rehearsal halls/studios in the School of Theatre and Bass School of Music.
- Supervise production meetings and design meetings.
- Attendance at and coordination of technical rehearsals and dress rehearsals.
- Create and administer online production callboard sites.
- Supervise student assistant production managers.
- Coordinate special events in theatre spaces and rehearsal halls/studios.
- Manage scheduling, deadlines, and technical rehearsals for summer productions in OCU performance spaces.
- Teach 1–2 classes per semester in Production Management, Stage Management, and/or other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Serve as Production Manager for the School of Theatre, the Bass School of Music, and other series/productions supported by the Design & Production program.
- Assist in mentoring student stage managers for on-campus and selected off-campus professional partnership productions.
- Active participation in School of Theatre recruitment and retention activities, including travel to regional and national interview events.
- Service on school and university committees.
- Excellence in teaching is the primary factor in successful promotion and tenure decision making; maintaining a professional profile who can connect the profession to the classroom is also valued.
- MFA in Production Management, Stage Management, Technical Direction, or related field (MFA required for tenure‑track appointment).
- Experience in production management, arts management, and/or related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and relevant production software.
- University-level teaching experience.
- 2 or more years of Production Manager experience in a university and/or professional organizations.
- Working knowledge of AEA, IATSE, USA, and SDC agreement.
