Job Description

The Michael

F. Price College of Business Graduate Programs Office in Oklahoma City manages graduate programs, including the Master of Business Administration, MS in Finance, and MS in Entrepreneurship & Innovation programs. Advisors are assigned programs and responsibilities as appropriate.

Essential Duties
  • Performs all duties of an Academic Advisor as appropriate.
  • Monitors academic health and degree progression of assigned students, including transcript review, enrollment tracking, and active outreach.
  • Develops a rapport of trust with assigned students.
  • Assists in onboarding and training of new advisors.
  • Mentors new advisors.
  • Responds to communications via phone and email in a timely manner.
  • Engages in assessment and data collection.
  • Represents the unit at recruitment events.
  • Participates in Academic Life Coaching.
  • Liaison between University of Oklahoma and transfer institutions.
  • Collaborates with faculty and provides feedback on curricular decisions and course needs.
  • Engages in leadership or scholarly activity to further professional advising identity.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
  • Required Education and Experience
    :
    Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 36 months of full‑time Academic Advisor experience in higher education.
  • Skills
    :
    • Effective verbal and written communication.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to navigate and maintain databases.
    • Skilled at building rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff.
    • Ability to work well in a diverse environment.
    • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
    • Highly organized with ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Ability to learn, interpret, and articulate complex policies and procedures.
    • Advanced knowledge of state, university, college, and major policies.
    • Willingness to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision.
    • Committed to maintaining confidentiality and securing sensitive information.
