Position Summary

OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for one or more full-time, tenure-track faculty positions, to begin in Fall 2026. We welcome applications from candidates in all doctrinal areas, and we have particular needs in first-year courses (such as Torts, Civil Procedure, and Property), as well as Business Associations, and Wills, Trusts & Estates. We seek applicants whose commitment to teaching, research, and service will enhance the learning of our students, broaden the impact of our faculty scholarship, and enrich our close-knit academic community.

Candidates should have an excellent academic background, a strong commitment to effective and engaged teaching, demonstrated potential to becoming a productive scholar, and a sincere commitment to integrity and a welcoming environment. We have built a community that values dedication, collegiality, and professionalism, and we are seeking candidates who share these values. Candidates must have either (1) a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school or (2) the combination of a foreign law degree and either an L.L.M. or S.J.D. degree from a U.S. law school.

Our gorgeous and historic law building is located in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City, the 20th-most-populous city in America. We are within walking distance of the federal and county courthouses, and we are deeply engaged with the legal, business, nonprofit, and government communities of the city and state. In fact, the Mayor of OKC (David Holt) is our OCU Law Dean.

OKC is consistently ranked among America’s “Best Places to Live” and combines a low cost of living with the amenities of a great American city, including thriving arts and food scenes, outdoor recreation/fitness opportunities, and a prosperous economy, but also friendly people, mild climate, and the 2025 NBA Champion Thunder. OKC is also gearing up to host seven events in the 2028 Olympics.

For more information about OKC, see  OCU Law is the home of the Oklahoma Innocence Project, the OCU Tribal Sovereignty Institute and annual Sovereignty Symposium, and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office’s Regional Pro Bono Patent Program.

Oklahoma City University is a private university. It is an equal opportunity employer and affirms the values and goals of diversity and inclusiveness. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and all intellectual perspectives. For the university’s complete nondiscrimination policy, see OCU Nondiscrimination Statement.
