The normal starting pay for this position is the minimum of the pay range listed above. A higher rate of pay may be considered, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the selected applicant and/or the City’s step placement policy.
ELIGIBILITY LIST PREFERENCE ORDERFull-time City employees will receive preference in the following order: major division first, then department, then all other full-time City employees. Part-time/year-round City employees will receive preference next. If there are no qualified full-time City employees or part-time/year-round City employees, external applicants will then be considered (when the vacancy is open to external applicants).

JOBSUMMARY
This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Field Services Division of the Public Works Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of a Chief Construction Inspector. Employees of this classification function in a position in which knowledge and application of City Construction Plans and Specifications are required; however, specialized skills, knowledge, and abilities related to the specific areas of construction must have been obtained prior to assuming the position.
Essential job functions include: conducting inspections of building(s), paving, storm sewers, bridges, sanitary sewers, water lines, driveways, paving cuts and repairs; recording information; and interpreting and explaining construction plans and specifications which are applicable to public sector construction. The employee offers advice to contractors, citizens, and workers on problems occurring on public construction projects in order to ensure that work being performed and materials utilized on the project are in compliance with Construction Plans and Specifications.
