Overview

Silver Star Construction is seeking a Project Manager. Our employee-owned company is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to join our team for our projects in various locations throughout the OKC Metro and surrounding areas. The role aligns with our core values:

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safety and Quality are the first priority on every project
  • Serve as the first point of contact, 24/7, for safety or emergency issues
  • Immediately report any suspected drug, alcohol, or intoxication to the Safety Director
  • Maintain safety-sensitive position responsibilities due to work around heavy equipment and street/highway construction
  • Keep all projects on budget and on time; collaborate with the estimator to determine costs and process change orders as needed
  • Assist Superintendents and Safety to conduct a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for each project prior to crews starting work
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, equipment and trucking dispatchers, Safety, shop foreman, testing labs, Asphalt Plant, and all suppliers
  • Act as the primary contact with Project Owners, Developers, General Contractors, General Superintendents and job site Foremen to coordinate activities and communications
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within company policy and contract specifications; confer with VP of Operations as needed
  • Monitor and control material deliveries to ensure project adherence to budget
  • Monitor and control Quality Control Testing to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Represent the company in project and strategy meetings; work with contract administrator to manage financial aspects of contracts while maintaining good customer relationships
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete the project; initiate and obtain necessary permits and coordinate inspections with local jurisdictions
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers and clients; formulate reports on work progress, costs, and scheduling
  • Attend project handoff meetings, review bid specifications and drawings, and ensure readiness for project execution
  • Oversee quality and cost controls on each project while ensuring customer satisfaction by addressing client needs
  • Evaluate potential safety situations and confer with the Safety Director on corrective measures
  • Review subcontracts and purchase orders to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to work or material orders
  • Ensure subcontractors have valid sub contracts and insurance in place; manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Distribute project information to VP of Operations (plans, materials, quantities, equipment, labor hours) and maintain clear communication with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Ensure subs are aware of and committed to project schedule
Requirements
  • Driving Record – 5 points or less
  • 2-5 years managing construction projects (Heavy Civil preferred)
  • OSHA 10, OSHA 30 (preferred), CPR certification, and First Aid
  • Education – High school diploma or GED; college degree is optional but preferred
  • Project management knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, HCSS, Vista by Viewpoint
  • Leadership, teamwork, and ability to identify and resolve deficiencies in day-to-day operations
  • Professionalism and ability to work under pressure; respectful interpersonal behavior
  • Planning/Organizing, productivity, and time management
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage multiple duties
