CREW Unit Lead Steward - Summer Overnight Camp, YMCA Camp Classen

Join us as a CREW Unit Stew!
We are seeking two CREW Program Unit Lead Stewards: one female and one male
. Together, you'll guide 16-year-old and 17-year-old CREW staff members through their first camp positions, helping them transition from the Camp Leadership Program (CLP) to active camp staff roles. Not everyone wants to be a cabin counselor, but they still want to be part of something bigger and support camps’ success. As the CREW Unit Stews, you'll oversee and support these new staff members, helping them set up and run all-camp activities, challenges, theme nights, and more.

You'll be the mastermind behind all camp games, evening programs, themed skits, and epic events.

You'll handle program activity signups and program areas like a pro. Plus, you'll show everyone how to care for and store equipment properly, making sure everything is in tip-top shape. From setting up to cleaning up, you'll ensure every program and event runs smoothly. If you're passionate about creating unforgettable camp experiences and leading with a smile, this is the role for you!

• Helps plan, organize, and execute program activities
• Assists with camper check-in and check-out
• Assists in supervision of campers and oversees the success the program
• When required, stays in a cabin overnight with campers or CLP Crew staff
• Ensures that campers are taught skills and, when required, teach activities.
• Encourages growth in spirit, mind, and body and positive character development in all campers and staff
• Ensures the safety, health, and inclusion of all campers
• Oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of program ares for campers and staff
• Dedication to job, camp participants and the YMCA cause.
• Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Effectively communicates the camp rules, procedures, and schedule to campers, acting as a role model for campers and staff
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with campers and other staff.
