Overview
Business Development Officer II leads market efforts in the solicitation of new business to the bank with a focus on specific department products/services (e.g., Specialty Lending, Treasury Management, Wealth Management) and cross-selling other lines of business to existing customers. This role is responsible for identifying appropriate products/services and proposing knowledgeable solutions for clients to enhance their business or portfolios. The officer also coaches other Business Development Officers to grow their portfolios.
Responsibilities- Solicits new banking relationships for the bank with a focus on applicable department products/services.
- Manages personal or commercial business relationships within the department portfolio to drive growth.
- Guides customers through processes to optimize sales and profits while minimizing losses to the bank.
- Manages all functions of the department to meet budget growth and profitability targets, with timely performance reporting to management.
- Stays current on industry issues and regulations applicable to the duties of the position.
- Represents Simmons Bank at professional, civic, and community activities.
- Ensures departmental documents and activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including completion of required compliance training.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and general business correspondence.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and/or legal documents.
- Ability to write procedures, routine reports, and simple business correspondence.
- Ability to respond in writing to customer complaints, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and group settings with customers or employees.
- Ability to present information clearly to groups including top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
- BS/BA Degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience.
- Three to six years’ experience in applicable business development industry.
- Management experience preferred.
- MS Office programs.
- Applicable designations for specific department(s) preferred, such as CTFA, CFP, CPA, and bar admission for Trust Department.
