General Description
The Health Professions Aide – Student is primarily responsible for assisting HP Program Directors, HPC Simulation/Lab Director, HPC Lab Assistant, and HP Division Staff in a variety of tasks. When scheduling allows, the student will assist faculty members with appropriate tasks. The student may NOT be enrolled in a Health Professions program and serve in this position. This position is open to students outside of Health Professions to adhere with the Privacy Act.

Current OCCC student requirements
Enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for Fall/Spring, or a minimum of 3 hours for Summer, OR current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- For HPC Office student workers:
Good telephone and customer service skills; reliable work ethic; ability to file student records accurately; assist with setting up and breaking down labs; knowledge of Word, Excel and spreadsheets; prior experience in office setting; demonstrated attention to detail. - For HPC Lab student workers:
Cleaning of mannequins and equipment; sorting and packing of supplies; maintenance of stock; assist with laundry; assist with lab and simulation setup and breakdown; assist in care and maintenance of lab equipment and skills trainers; frequent kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, and lifting; some computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- General physical requirements:
Medium work; may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently; up to 10 pounds constantly. - Physical activities:
Frequent communication with administration, faculty, staff, students, and others; can move about campus; operate computer and office equipment; repetitive motions of hands and wrists; occasional positions to access materials above head or at ground level; push/pull/grasp/lift up to 50 pounds; frequent positioning to work with materials and people. - Visual acuity:
Assess accuracy and thoroughness of work. - Working conditions:
Indoor office setting.
