Delta Dental of Michigan is hiring a Human Resources Leave Analyst to administer leave of absence (LOA) programs, ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and other leave policies, and act as a liaison between employees and management regarding leaves and accommodations.

Primary Job
  • Leads LOA programs and ensures compliance with FMLA, MFLA, ADAAA, WC, WAC, STD, LTD, and other leave policies.
  • Communicates with employees regarding leave needs, restrictions, and modified work schedules; ensures employees know required documentation and notice.
  • Acts as liaison with the disability administrator and internal stakeholders to administer leaves consistently with applicable laws and company policies.
  • Facilitates other leave requests and the interactive process for accommodation requests under ADA.
  • Administers other company time‑off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.
  • Reviews and recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Creates and maintains accurate leave records and administers leaves within HRIS and timekeeping system.
  • Maintains communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and managers during leave as needed.
  • Coordinates the return‑to‑work process including timely and accurate entry of return‑to‑work dates into HRIS and management of employee paid time off.
  • Monitors leave programs for on‑going compliance with federal and state regulations for LOA programs and public notice postings for the company and affiliates.
  • Facilitates weekly issue resolution call with third‑party LOA administrator.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with HR Business Partners, payroll department, employees, and management to ensure proper communication and coordination.
  • Acts as subject‑matter expert and provides general knowledge and training for employees and management regarding FMLA, ADA, WC, STD, and LTD.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
  • Works with HR legal resource on an as‑needed basis to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Minimum Requirements

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field and three years of experience in LOA and/or disability claims processing using a HRIS. Previous experience administering disability claims in a union environment preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.

Position requires knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; the ability to apply and interpret general principles to specific situations; the ability to work independently; effectively prioritize work and consistently meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines; and to identify and resolve problems.
