Are you ready to take your social work career to the next level in one of the most beautiful regions of the UK? We’re looking for a passionate, forward‑thinking Social Worker to join our dynamic Integrated Adult Social Care Team in Okehampton and Moretonhampstead.
What you’ll be doingYou’ll work with individuals aged 17+ transitioning into adult services, supporting those with physical and learning disabilities, long‑term health conditions, and safeguarding needs. Using a strengths‑based approach, you’ll empower people to live independently and safely in their communities. You’ll be at the heart of person‑centred care, assessing needs under the Care Act, supporting decision‑making in line with the Mental Capacity Act, and protecting adults r relationship‑building skills will shine.
This role is 30 hours per week, with days to be discussed but ideally including a Friday.
We have implemented the first phase of a new Social Worker Career Pathway within our Adult Services, with vacancies at the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) levels. Our roles align with the national Professional Capability Framework (PCF) for Social Workers, which provides a robust structure for all local authorities to standardise professional capabilities and offers a clear career pathway.
This is a fantastic opportunity to pursue an achievable, clear pathway that allows you to reflect on your practice and development through the PCF.
If shortlisted for interview, your experience, skills and knowledge will be assessed against the PCF domains. If found appointable, you will be appointed to either the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) level. Ongoing learning and support from your line manager will enable you to evidence incremental learning and submit an application for progression to the Experienced Social Worker level via a portfolio against the PCF.
