AboutThe Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to oversee daily inbound and outbound freight operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth material flow, on-time customer deliveries, and cost-effective transportation solutions. You'll work closely with Dispatch, Customer Service, Ingredient Purchasing, Production, Trucking, and third‑party freight partners to support both production and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, schedule, and manage inbound and outbound freight, including:
- LTL shipments
- Third‑party freight providers
- Route-truck delivery services
- Fleet coordination
- Supplier pickups and inbound raw‑ingredient deliveries
- Monitor delivery appointments, shipping confirmations, carrier ETAs, and receiving windows.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and cost‑effective delivery of customer orders.
- Manage LTL shipments including carrier selection, rate negotiation, documentation, labeling, and scheduling.
- Coordinate inbound ingredient scheduling with Purchasing and Production teams.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers, carriers, drivers, and internal teams to prevent delays.
- Align outbound shipments with production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Perform freight tendering, rate comparisons, and carrier evaluations.
- Identify routing efficiencies and inbound backhaul opportunities.
- Support competitive landed‑cost decisions and reduce empty miles.
- Maintain freight logs, spreadsheets, and KPIs using Excel.
- Track freight costs, routing efficiency, and logistics performance.
- Document freight exceptions, delays, and service issues.
- Recommend process improvements and best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
- Strong understanding of transportation and logistics fundamentals, including:
- Inbound/outbound freight coordination
- LTL operations
- Rate structures and carrier management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment.
- Customer‑first mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Prior experience in logistics, trucking, LTL scheduling, or freight coordination.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and agricultural/feed industry logistics is a plus.
