Full Time Van Driver - Will train
Route assignment 4-6 hours

Starting Pay: $22.52/hour

Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must have the physical capability to perform daily pre-trip inspections and wear a seat belt
  • Physically qualified as determined by an annual physical examination meeting Ohio Department of Education, Form T-8 criteria
  • Complete pre-service and in-service training as per Ohio Administrative Code Rule
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations involving students, including those with disabilities
  • Possess or upgrade skills through relevant training related to transporting students with disabilities
  • Good driving record and work history verified through references and background checks
  • Understanding of pupil transportation’s role in education and compliance with laws and policies
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening and other required tests
Reports To:

Transportation Coordinator

Supervises:

Students on the bus

Position Goal:

Provide safe and efficient transportation for students

Evaluation:

Performance reviewed annually by the Transportation Coordinator, with evaluations every three years or as needed

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain bus cleanliness and perform repairs as needed
  • Complete daily pre-trip inspections
  • Follow all Ohio laws, district policies, and safety regulations
  • Adhere to scheduled routes and supervise students at all times
  • Enforce discipline and bus regulations
  • Report incidents and complete required documentation
  • Participate in safety training and keep the bus fueled and maintained
  • Use proper communication and conduct professionally

  • Well-groomed, positive attitude, punctual, dependable
  • Flexible, calm under stress, sound decision-making skills
Human Relations:
  • Communicate concerns, cooperate with colleagues, and handle parent interactions diplomatically
School-Community Relations:
  • Maintain a positive image of the school district and confidentiality
Other Duties:
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned, including field trips
