Senior Software Developer (Quality Infrastructure)
At Jet Brains, code is our passion. Ever since we started, back in 2000, we have been striving to make the most effective developer tools on earth. Our tools speed up production by automating routine checks and corrections, freeing developers to grow, discover, and create.
The Quality Infrastructure team builds and maintains the tools and frameworks that help keep our products stable and high‑performing. We focus on making life easier for developers and QA engineers by improving automation and providing reliable infrastructure. Our work includes developing in‑house testing frameworks, performance tools, and automation for quality checks. We’re also driving initiatives in performance monitoring, code ownership, and quality gates to make quality a natural part of everyday development.
About the role: We are currently seeking a Senior Software Developer to drive the development and evolution of a key internal tool used across all teams in the Intelli
J department. This tool incorporates advanced performance analysis logic to diagnose issues such as exceptions, freezes, and out‑of‑memory (OOM) errors in our products. Solid performance analysis skills are essential for this role.
This position combines technical expertise, stakeholder collaboration, and a strong sense of ownership. You will serve as the primary expert for this tool – ensuring it continues to meet the needs of multiple teams and delivers high value across the organization.
Key responsibilities:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining internal tools that improve efficiency and collaboration across teams.
- Communicating with stakeholders to understand workflows, gather requirements, and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Serving as the subject matter expert for the internal tool, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and proactive support, as well as creating necessary documentation.
- Continuously enhancing the tool based on user feedback and emerging needs.
- Collaborating with IT and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with other systems as needed.
Desired qualifications:
- Proven experience in software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in relevant technologies, such as Kotlin, Vue.js, and Type Script.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, with proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- A collaborative mindset and a strong sense of ownership over your work.
- Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and S3.
- Experience working with or understanding performance issues in the JVM, such as freezes, memory leaks, and out‑of‑memory (OOM) errors.
Why join us? You’ll play a critical role in shaping how the processes in our department work – communicating with stakeholders, building tools that empower teams, and directly influencing productivity and collaboration on a department level.
If you’re passionate about building impactful internal tools and enjoy working closely with diverse teams, we’d love to hear from you.
