Sales Manager, Business Development, Sales Representative, Technical Sales
Are you a technical sales leader who understands that in the world of LED lighting, the magic happens at the intersection of source and optic? We are looking for an OEM Sales Manager to serve as the North American specialist for custom optical solutions. This isn't a role for a commodity order-taker; it is for a hunter who speaks the language of engineers and knows how to navigate the complex R&D cycles of lighting manufacturers.
In this brand new position, you will be the primary driver for establishing our brand as a premier optic supplier across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. You will work directly with customer R&D departments and product managers to move beyond standard data sheets and create custom profiles that meet specific luminaire needs.
Your Mission
Own the Optics Category: Spend your first 1 to 2 years as the dedicated specialist for optics, becoming thego-to resource for mid-size and smaller lighting manufacturers who need a true technical partner.
Drive Custom Engineering: Collaborate with customer engineers to understand luminaire components and identify the precise diffused or extruded plastic optics required.
Bridge the Gap: Act as the vital link between North American market needs and our global R&D and Sales Directors in Germany.
Execute Road Shows: Adapt and deliver technical presentations and "road shows" specifically tailored to the North American lighting market.
Build a Network: Leverage your existing industry relationships to find new opportunities while supporting and educating our internal sales colleagues on the optics portfolio.
What You Bring to the TableDeep Optics Expertise: You must have 3 to 5 years of experience specifically selling optics to lighting OEMs. Experience with connectors alone is not a fit for this role; we need someone who understands the physics of light.
The "Hunter" Mentality: You are a self-motivated professional who enjoys the chase but also values a collaborative, organized, and detail-oriented team environment.
Technical Literacy: A BS degree is required, along with the ability to "ask the right questions" to uncover deep technical requirements.
Relationship Focus: You have a proven track record of selling to R&D departments and product managers rather than just procurement.
Willingness to Travel: You are ready to be on the road 25% to 50% of the time to meet customers at their offices and visit our Tennessee hub every 6 to 8 weeks.
Why This Role MattersThis is a high-impact, individual contributor role where you aren't just selling a part number—you are selling a solution. We offer a rich benefits program where the company covers the entirety of your health insurance premiums and provides a strong 401k match. If you are a career-oriented professional who wants to be the face of a new division for a global leader, we should talk.
