This role is responsible for preparing and/or directing the preparation of food to be served to customers. The incumbent ensures high standards of quality, safety, and cleanliness in the restaurant dining room, pickup, delivery, catering, and banquet services.
Responsibilities- Prepare and cook food as requested, following established policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized preparation area.
- Support dining room, banquet rooms, pickup, delivery, and catering services for all meal types.
- Replenish and organize food stocks and supplies, working with management to maintain inventory and reorder as needed.
- Ensure safe food preparation, kitchen cleaning, and trash removal.
- Implement food safety practices, correctly labeling items and following protocols to prevent cross‑contamination.
- Stay current with safe and healthy food handling practices and maintain the required food handling permit.
- Unload incoming truck loads, assist with inventory and stocking.
- Conduct routine inspections to confirm expiration dates and rotation of stock in refrigerators, freezers, and pantries.
- Maintain an exceptionally clean and cosmetically appealing kitchen; report broken or worn equipment, dishware, or other supplies to management.
- Notify management of future supply needs before depletion.
- Work closely with co‑workers to deliver high‑quality customer service and ensure timely, tasty dishes.
- Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve concerns promptly.
- Maintain professional relationships with co‑workers, vendors, and the public.
- Demonstrate a proactive, positive, and sincere interest in customers and community relationships.
- Comply with all company policies, standards, SOPs, departmental checklists, and other required protocols.
- Follow safety and security practices and ensure adherence to daily and routine departmental checklists.
- Complete all necessary training and certifications and pass required assessments.
- Undertake any additional projects and duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- 1–2 years of experience as a restaurant cook.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service handling practices and food safety training, with current food handling permit and Serv Safe certification.
- Ability to safely operate industrial kitchen equipment, stoves, grills, ovens, etc.
- Effective interpersonal skills, exhibiting tact and professionalism in all interactions.
- Professional demeanor, confidentiality, good judgment, and dependability.
- Ability to work near moving or mechanical parts and in extreme hot or cold conditions.
- Potential exposure to toxic or caustic cleaning chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles.
- Physical demands: speak, hear, see; stand for long periods; walk frequently; use full reach and arm motion; lift up to 50 lbs; bender, stoop, kneel, carry, push, pull, and lift.
- Regular attendance; willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Flexible schedule and commitment to punctuality.
