PhD Position in computational materials science and phase-field modeling
The Institute of Material Systems Modeling of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon is offering a 3-year PhD position in computational materials science and phase-field modeling. The PhD project will focus on developing a novel phase-field approach for modeling the solid-state sintering of magnesium alloy powders, implementing it using the finite element method, and validating it through both literature data and in-house experimental measurements.
Equal opportunity is an important part of our personnel policy. We would therefore strongly encourage qualified women to apply for the position.
Your profileYou have a master's degree in materials science, computational engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physics or a similar area. Solid knowledge in materials modeling, applied mathematics, and numerical methods (materials science, continuum mechanics, linear algebra, functional analysis, variational calculus, finite element method) is crucial. You need to possess very good programming skills in C++, experience with deal.
