The Nuhop Center for Experiential Learning is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving social, emotional, and educational outcomes for youth through experiential learning and residential summer camp programming. Camp Nuhop serves youth with learning differences, social challenges, and behavioral health needs, many of whom come from families facing economic hardship and limited access to supportive enrichment opportunities. Each year, the organization serves thousands of youth through outdoor education and specialized summer programming designed to build confidence, independence, communication skills, and resilience.
Nuhop seeks to strengthen its organizational capacity to ensure that youth from under‑resourced communities can access life‑changing summer camp experiences.
To remove financial, informational, and systemic barriers that prevent participation, the organization is expanding referral partnerships with schools, healthcare providers, behavioral health agencies, social service organizations, and Ohio Rise care coordination partners. In addition, Nuhop is enhancing outreach systems, improving enrollment and communication processes, strengthening camper record management systems, and developing sustainable funding strategies that reduce economic barriers for families. Through improved partnership development, strengthened marketing and communication systems, documented enrollment workflows, and implementation of a comprehensive outcomes and program assessment process, Nuhop will increase its effectiveness and long‑term sustainability.
These capacity‑building efforts will expand program reach, improve organizational efficiency, and enable more youth from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in summer programming that supports long‑term educational and social success.
