PositionSummary
The Specialist, Digital Communications & Marketing is responsible for the technical administration and tactical execution of our department’s messaging across digital touchpoints. The role sits at the intersection of creative storytelling and technical execution and bridges the gap between the creative team (writers, videographers, and graphic artists) and the platforms we use to reach our audiences. The role develops and executes communication and marketing campaigns as part of editorial and marketing calendars.
The role ensures the message of each piece of content fits its intended audience, is formatted perfectly, distributed to the correct audience segments, and functions flawlessly across email, chat, web, and social media. The individual in the role is a power user of communication and marketing tools and takes pride in system organization, teamwork, and seamless execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong eye for detail, critical and lateral thinking skills, problem solving skills, process thinking skills, a passion for communications and marketing, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Serve as the primary user for the communications "tech stack", including Constant Contact, Google Workspace (Gmail/GChat), social media tools, content management systems.
- Take the lead on social media channels and be the expert in leveraging social media space
- Manage and audit internal email distribution groups (Google Groups) to ensure list hygiene and accurate audience targeting.
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and updating of internal (Intranet) and external web pages, ensuring they are updated, links are active, and the user experience is intuitive and engaging.
- Monitor platforms to ensure the security and efficiency of communication channels.
- Act as an active creative partner, collaborating with writers, videographers, and designers to gather, develop and prep assets for deployment.
- Take "hero" content and adapt it for different environments (e.g., social media, blogs, web, email, etc.)
- Be a brand steward and ensure all outgoing content is visually aligned with brand standards and optimized for the specific technical requirements of each platform (aspect ratios, file sizes, etc.).
- Develop and execute multi-channel distribution strategy, ensuring that key messages hit appropriate channels in a coordinated sequence.
- Work with editorial calendar and manage sub calendars such as marketing calendar and social media calendar, including the creation, scheduling, and conducting of campaigns to completion.
- Execute end-to-end digital campaigns, including email marketing and paid social ads.
- Traffic control the frequency of messages to ensure audiences are informed but not overwhelmed.
- Use analytics tools to monitor campaign performance (open rates, click-throughs, web traffic).
