Operations Supervisor – Precision Engineered Products

Leetonia, OH

USD $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Consider joining the Pennex family as an Operations (PEP - Precision Engineered Products) Supervisor. You will lead, coordinate, and supervise a team of fabrication and value‑added workers producing structural, automotive, ornamental, and other aluminum products. This position may be scheduled for first, second, or third shift and may include 12‑hour shifts with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate a designated shift for the Precision Engineered Products team.
  • Drive and achieve throughput goals.
  • Conduct supervisory duties per company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving complaints.
  • Directly supervise employees in the Fabrication Department.
  • Analyze work orders to determine material requirements, type and sequence of operations.
  • Prepare requisitions for tooling, fixtures, and operational supplies.
  • Examine defective machinery to identify malfunctions and report repair needs to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Perform routine quality checks and inspect work in progress and finished products to ensure standards are met.
  • Oversee saw operations, machining cells, and other value‑added processes for operational effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Apply 6S projects and other Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Assist in investigating customer complaints and quality non‑conformances.
  • Use effective problem‑solving techniques to eliminate issues.
  • Adhere to standard work practices and coach the team to meet production schedules.
  • Use production schedules to evaluate worker hour requirements for job completion and verify performance against expected rates.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
  • Work with outside processors to manage production and quality to meet customer demands and requirements.
  • Actively participate in safety training and ensure compliance with Pennex and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform activities of workers supervised and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s Degree or Trade Certification preferred.
  • Five or more years of supervisory experience and/or training in technical machining or metal fabrication, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Highly motivated, self‑driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills.
  • Attentive to detail and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments.
  • Flexible and able to meet tight deadlines while prioritizing multiple projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate information clearly and concisely.
  • Must be able to pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
  • Eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.
  • Regular attendance required.
