Overview
The Quality Assurance Technician ensures analytical, microbiological, sensory attributes and corporate compliances are completed in order to meet the quality standards defined by Shearer’s Snacks and its customers. They are responsible for performing assigned laboratory testing and assuring that equipment is calibrated and running properly. They monitor the facility operation to ensure compliance with corporate quality requirements, SQF, labeling, GMPs, food safety, and all other standards of the plant.
The Quality Assurance Technician works with the production team to ensure that all proper checks are in place and communicates regularly regarding quality results. Additional duties include training and preparing for audits, documenting results in the record-keeping database and other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Quality Supervisor.
- Perform assigned laboratory testing and ensure equipment calibration and proper operation.
- Monitor facility operations for compliance with corporate quality requirements, SQF, labeling, GMPs, food safety and other plant standards.
- Collaborate with the production team to implement proper quality checks and communicate quality results on a regular basis.
- Train team members and assist in preparing for audits.
- Document results in the record-keeping database and perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience:
Previous Quality Assurance/Quality team member experience in a food and beverage manufacturing environment preferred. - Attendance:

Ability to perform simple math, conversions (mm to in, g to oz), and use formulas to compute run rates. - Leadership:

Apply common sense understanding and carry out written or oral instructions; handle problems in common operating situations. - Computer
Skills:
Basic computer skills required to run production; routine verifications will be performed. - Time Management:
Ability to follow standard work instructions. - Flexibility:
Availability for pre-shift meetings; able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
The team member is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Team members must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitious lifting.
