Overview
As a Laser Operator / Laser Nester, you’ll run laser cutting machines and use nesting software to lay out parts on metal sheets. You’ll read blueprints, measure parts for accuracy, and help keep production running smoothly.
What You’ll Do- Set up and operate laser cutting machines to cut, trim, or form metal parts
- Use nesting software to optimize material layouts and minimize waste
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Measure parts using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers to confirm accuracy
- Program, troubleshoot, and adjust machine settings for different materials and thicknesses
- Inspect equipment and materials to identify issues and keep operations safe
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of equipment
- Conduct quality checks to ensure parts meet required standards
- Safely operate forklifts and cranes when needed
- Support other duties and special projects as assigned
- 1–3 years of manufacturing experience (laser operation and nesting preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency using measurement tools (tape measure, micrometers, calipers, etc.)
- Knowledge of metal fabrication processes and concepts
- Comfort with computer programming and problem-solving in a production environment
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to prioritize tasks
- Mechanical aptitude for servicing, repairing, calibrating, and testing equipment
